11 weeks old and soooo cute!!

Avery is now 11 weeks old, and what a difference another week or so makes! She is getting such a little personality now, smiling and cooing and making all sorts of cute sounds. She is so sweet in the mornings. That's always when I get the best pictures of her. It just melts my heart when she smiles back at us. I find myself running to get my camera every times she smiles so I can try to capture the moment. She has really started to become more interactive and playful. I hate that I'm about to have to go back to work just when she is starting to become so darn cute! We have met most of my goals that I was working on... Avery will drink from a bottle when needed and she is sleeping through the night most of the time. As far as sleeping in her own room at night... we haven't quite made the switch yet. I asked Ted last night when we were going to move her... and he said "When she's 2!" We hate to move her away from her family... It's been kind of nice having the entire family (including the dogs!) in our room at night. But I'm sure we will be moving her in the next couple of weeks. Here are some cute pictures of her that will surely make your day!

A Fun Weekend

We did several fun things with Avery this past weekend. Saturday afternoon, we took Avery to the pumpkin patch for some pictures. No smiles, but we did get some pretty cute pictures! On Saturday night, we went over to our friend's house to hang out with our group of close friends and their kids. Avery did really great. I can't wait until she gets to play with all of her little friends. Sunday afternoon, we went to McGregor for our nephew Garrett's 3rd birthday party. It was a lot of fun seeing everyone. And of course, Avery was spoiled with lots of lap time from the Grandparents. She will be 10 weeks old tomorrow.... I can hardly believe it. She is getting so big and doing so great. After a couple of days of working with her, she is taking a bottle without any problems. I've been trying to give her at least 1-2 bottles a day to be consistent and make sure she doesn't forget how to do it. She is also pretty much sleeping through the night now, which has been wonderful. I was just telling Ted last night that I hardly even remember those first few weeks when we were up every 2 hours feeding and trying to calm a crying baby. It goes by so fast that it's almost a blur now. I've treasured each day with our little angel, and look forward to each day to come! Enjoy all the new pictures!

Avery is 2 months old!

Avery officially turned 2 months old yesterday! Unfortunately, we had to celebrate it with a trip to the clinic for her 2 month check-up and immunizations. Poor baby... she had to get to 2 shots and an oral immunization. She did really great until later in the day when her legs were sore. Tylenol and lots of snuggle time seemed to help! We did find out that Avery has been growing like crazy! She weighed 10lbs 14oz, was 22 inches long, and had a head circumference of 39cm... all in the 50th percentile! Not too shabby considering she was one month early! We were very proud of our growing girl.

Ted celebrated his 31st birthday on Saturday, and it turned out to be a really busy weekend for us. Avery went on her longest road trip so far, and did great. On Saturday, we traveled down to Gruene with a few little stops along the way (Cabela's, Outlet Mall). We met Ted's parents, his Grandma from Kansas, and Tisha & Dan for a late lunch at the Gristmill. We enjoyed visiting with everyone there, then Ted's parents and his Grandma traveled back to Temple with us for the night. The following day we took lots of family pictures, went out to lunch, then they all headed back to Houston. It was a nice weekend and Avery did great.

Well, I have 4 weeks to go before I return to work. We have a few things that we need to accomplish before then. Most imortantly, I have to get Avery used to taking a bottle. Otherwise, she will starve when I'm at work. It has been a little bit of a challenge lately, so we are really going to work on it these next few weeks. I'm going to try a few different bottles to see if that might help, and also be more consistent with it. What can I say? Avery likes her Mama! Not a bad thing... but I can't be available 24/7! Also, we would like to have her sleeping through the night by then. She is close, but is still waking up for the 3am feeding. We are also going to move her into her room at night in the next couple of weeks. So... I will let you know how all of this is going! Enjoy all the pictures!

8 Weeks!

Avery is 8 weeks old today and continues to grow and become more alert and active. She is sleeping better and better at night. She has gone as long as 7 hours in between feedings, so we are hoping that she will be sleeping through the night in the next couple of weeks. I have about 4 weeks left at home, so I am cherishing every moment I have with her. It has been such a blessing to stay at home with her for 3 months. I am getting both excited and sad/nervous about returning to work. We are still making final decisions and arrangements with child care. I hate the thought of being away from her, but at least it will just be 2-3 days a week! It's been fun dressing her up in her cute little outfits this week, so I have lots of pictures to share with you. Enjoy!
