I think she had more fun at the farm...

While Ted & I were in San Diego last week, Shelby spent 7 days with my parents out at the farm. We got her back last night, and she is STILL RECOVERING. She has been sleeping almost non-stop since she got home. I wonder why....

A day in the life of Shelby at home....

A day in the life of Shelby on the farm.... (I love this picture!)

I would have to say that our little doggy was well taken care of last week. Her cousins, Courtney & Garrett made sure she had a great time! Thanks everyone for taking such good care of Shelby while we were gone!

San Diego Trip

Well, we ended up taking a last minute trip to San Diego, California last week for spring break. I ended up getting the week off, so I searched for a conference somewhere cool, so we would have a place to go. My work pays for one big continuing education trip per year (pretty neat, huh?), so everything but food and entertainment were covered. Ted had a free flight, so that really made it nice. I ended up going to the conference for two days, and skipped the other two so we could play together. He spent the first two days playing golf (including a round at the famous Torrey Pines course) while I was in class. We also went to the Zoo, checked out the beaches, parks, did some wine tasting (or very minor sipping in my case), and ate at some really cool places. We had a really nice time. We rented a convertible while we were there, so we spent one day with the top down cruising the beaches. It was a much needed vacation, and probably our last one before the baby comes....

Speaking of the baby... as I was packing last week, I noticed that hardly any of my clothes (mainly my jeans and shorts) fit! At the last minute I had to run to the store to buy a few maternity clothes. While we were in San Diego, I did a little shopping too. I found a store that I LOVED and probably need to stay as far away from as possible (it's a good thing there aren't any in Temple). It's called a Pea in a Pod. Everything is so cute and fit so good, but you can't afford to buy much! Anyways... so I am officially wearing some maternity clothes now and starting to look like I'm actually pregnant. I'm looking foward to our ultrasound in 3 weeks. I can't believe we're about to know what we're having . Ted is convinced that we will be rushing to Lowe's on April 15th to paint the nursery. I told him I would at least wait until this summer... (he said "sure...."). I've posted a few pictures of our trip below. I'll try to post some more later this week!

14 Week Appointment

I had an appointment with my OB (Dr. Kohl-Thomas) today. It was a quick appointment, so Ted didn't go with me for this one. I got to hear the heart beat with the doppler for the first time, which was such a relief. It was about 156 beats/minute. Everything looked great. My labs from last time were perfect, except I will be getting the Rhogam shot since I am Rh-negative (which I already knew). They wanted to go ahead and set up all of my OB appointments, so I now have everything set up through the beginning of September. My next appointment will be April 15th. I will also have my ultrasound that day, so we'll know in about 5 weeks or so whether we get to start shopping for pink or blue!
I am feeling great right now. The past 2 weeks have been wonderful. I basically feel "normal." No more nausea or feeling tired. YAH!!!! I'm still wearing my own clothes, just looser shirts. It won't be long though!
Until next time....

12 weeks!

Well, we've made it to 12 weeks! I remember thinking 8 weeks ago... will we ever make it to 12 weeks? And now we're already there! I can breathe a sigh of relief. The "nervous" time is over with. Now we can move on and look forward to the rest of the pregnancy. I'm feeling a lot better and getting more energy. Besides fighting off a cold for 2 weeks, then ending up with a sinus infection this week, I'm good. I'm on antibiotics, so I should be better in no time. I'm looking forward to feeling good and maybe even trying to get some exercise in. I feel like I've slept my entire 1st semester. I've basically been working and coming home to the couch every night. I'm sure Ted is ready to have his fun, energetic wife back... But I hear that it just gets better from here, so I can't wait. Some people have asked for "belly" pictures, so I thought I would share a couple so you could see that I am finally showing a little bit. Until next time....

Valentine's Dinner and More

Ted & I had a fun, relaxing Valentine's Day together. We woke up and drove to Austin to one of our favorite places, Central Market. For those of you who have never been, it's definitely worth the drive. They have a really great cafe where we had an awesome lunch, then we spent the next hour or so shopping for the freshest produce and meats that you can't find anywhere else. We like to make a trip to Central Market every few months, especially on nice occassions. We bought some really awesome steaks, vegetables, and long-stem strawberries with chocolate fondue for dinner. We took it all home and had us a nice dinner and watched a movie. Just our style... (And no, that's not wine in my glass. Unfortunately, I had to fill mine with grape juice, which was NOT at all the same. Oh, well... I'll eventually get to drink wine again. )

Last weekend was an exciting weekend for Ted's sister, Tisha, and her long-time boyfriend, Dan. They called us to announce that they are engaged! We are soooo happy for them. Congrats! We can't wait for the wedding!

My pregnancy continues to go well. I'm feeling better and better now that I'm reaching the end of my first trimester. Mornings still come with some nausea, but now that I have a magic pill, it only lasts for about 30 minutes. Reglan works great! I'm still a little tired in the afternoons, but it's nothing like it was several weeks ago. My tummy is starting to grow a little. I'm still wearing my own clothes, but it won't be long before I have to go shopping. Ted & I have been thinking of baby names, and I think we have actually decided on a girl and a boy name. We are so excited. We'll let yall in on our name when we find out the sex of the baby in 8 weeks. Wow, that's going to go by so fast! Until next time...

First OB Appointment

We had our first OB appointment today with one of the nurse practitioners. The NP that I saw was great, but she was even more awesome when she went and got my friend and favorite NP, Jan to come in for the ultrasound. Jan was so excited, so she decided to do the ultrasound for me. Our baby is looking great! The heartbeat and everything was perfect. She took lots of pictures for us, so you can see from the new ultrasound that the baby has really grown over the past couple of weeks! What an amazing little miracle we have! The ultrasound today was actually right on target with my due date, so it looks like it's September 10th like we initially thought (Tisha's birthday!). Even though I didn't think I would need it, she went ahead and prescribed something for nausea just in case. Here lately it seems to come and go. But overall, I'm feeling pretty good. My next appointment will be with my Doctor on March 10th. My big ultrasound where we'll find out if it's a boy or a girl (exciting!!!) will be April 15th. So, that's only about 2 months away! We'll continue to keep you updated...

"Fireproof"

Ted was so sweet on Friday. I was really tired from working all week and told him I just wanted to stay in and maybe watch a movie. Well, he ended up cooking me an awesome dinner and renting the movie "Fireproof." I had been wanting to see it for a while now. We were big fans of their movie "Facing the Giants" as well. If you are looking for an inspirational couple's movie, I would highly recommend "Fireproof." The acting is a little cheesy at times, but Kirk Cameron is pretty cute, and the message is so great!
Just thought I would share....
Nothing much to report as far as pregnancy updates. Overall, I'm feeling a little better. Not quite as nauseated or tired as I have been, so that's been nice. I met with the OB financial counselor today to talk about insurance etc.. She gave me lots of goodies to look at. Tomorrow the OB nurse will call me to go over some stuff and set me up for my appointments. So hopefully I will be scheduled for my first OB appointment in the next couple of weeks. Talk to you soon!
